Help and frequently asked questions
Straight answers about buying, installing and using Pagewright. Can’t find yours? Contact support.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay US$19.99 once and every future version is free. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
What does "lifetime" mean here?
Your purchase includes free lifetime updates: every future version of Pagewright PDF Editor, including major versions, at no extra cost — no upgrade fees and no subscription. "Lifetime" means for as long as Pagewright is developed and offered. If development ever ends, your licence key never expires and your installed version keeps working, even if this website or our payment provider goes offline. Your key isn't tied to a version: the same key activates every new version.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit (x64). There is no version for macOS, Linux, ChromeOS or phones, and Windows on Arm has not been tested. See the system requirements.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Opening, editing, OCR and saving happen on your computer and don't need an internet connection, and Pagewright never uploads your documents. You need a connection to download the installer and once to activate your licence key (a PC without internet can be activated with a file from your account instead). After that, only a few optional features that you start yourself connect: downloading an extra OCR language, adding a time stamp to a certificate signature, and checking for updates (off by default).
Can it edit existing PDF text?
Yes, with limits. Choose Edit Existing Content → Edit text and click a paragraph or a line. A paragraph rewraps at its original width, line spacing and alignment, and the old wording is removed from the file — not covered up. Right-to-left and vertical text, text drawn with Type 3 fonts and text inside repeated graphics can't be edited yet; Pagewright outlines them in grey and says why. Images already in a PDF can't be replaced yet. Read how text editing works.
Does OCR work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. OCR → Recognize text adds an invisible, searchable text layer to scanned pages, on your computer; the scan itself is not changed. English is included, and other languages can be added from a Tesseract language file. Results depend on scan quality: handwriting, tables and badly degraded scans may not be recognized reliably, and Pagewright lists the words it is unsure of. See the guide Make a scanned PDF searchable.
Are updates included?
Yes. Free lifetime updates: every future version of Pagewright PDF Editor, including major versions, at no extra cost — no upgrade fees and no subscription. "Lifetime" means for as long as Pagewright is developed and offered; if development ever ends, your licence key never expires and your installed version keeps working. Pagewright never updates itself: download the new installer from your account (or a new download link) and run it over the old version; your settings and activation are kept. Your installed version keeps working whether or not you update.
How do I download or reinstall it?
After payment you get a private download page with the installer and your licence key, and we email you both. For security the download link expires after 7 days: request a new link with the email address you used at checkout, or sign in to your account to download again. To reinstall on the same PC, run the installer and enter the same key. To move to a new PC, choose Help → Deactivate on the old one first. See Download and install.
What is the refund policy?
14-day money-back guarantee: if Pagewright isn't right for you, ask for a refund within 14 days of your purchase, for any reason, and you get back the full amount you paid. After a refund, your download link stops working and the key can no longer be activated. An activated copy works offline, so a refund cannot switch it off — we ask you to deactivate and uninstall it. Read the refund policy.
How do I contact support?
Use the contact form or email Support email address — to be provided by the owner. Include your order reference from your receipt, and never send your licence key, passwords or card details. Support terms: Email support at the address on the contact page, with best-effort responses, usually within a few business days; there is no phone support.
Is a visible signature the same as a digital signature?
No. A visible signature is a picture of your signature or initials placed on the page; it does not identify you cryptographically or show later changes. A certificate-based digital signature is cryptographic. Pagewright can check certificate signatures in documents you receive, and can sign with a certificate from your Windows certificate store — tested with software certificates, but not yet with smart cards, USB tokens or a purchased certificate. See forms and signatures.
Do I need to activate Pagewright?
Yes. The first time Pagewright starts it asks for your licence key and activates it on that PC — this needs the internet once, or an activation file from your account for a PC without internet. Until then it can't open documents. After activation it works offline and never checks in again.
One key is active on one PC at a time. To move it, choose Help → Deactivate on the old PC and enter the key on the new one — as often as you like. If the old PC is lost or broken, release it from your account (up to 2 times in 12 months) or ask support.
Do I need an account?
No. Your licence key comes on your download page and by email. An optional account lets you see your key, download Pagewright again and manage your activated PC at any time: create one or sign in with the email address you used at checkout.
Can I use Pagewright for work?
The licence terms decide this: included — the same licence covers personal and business use. One licence per person: a company that needs Pagewright for several people buys one licence for each of them. See the software license terms.
What can't Pagewright do yet?
Secure redaction, password-protecting or encrypting PDFs, creating form fields, editing right-to-left or vertical text, replacing existing images and filling XFA forms are not available. Encrypted PDFs open for viewing, searching and printing only. We only list features once they ship and pass testing.
