Annotate and comment on PDFs

Review documents the way you would on paper — highlight, circle, point and comment — and keep every remark in one list.

Shapes, arrows, notes and highlights, all listed in the Comments panel.

Mark up text and pages

The Annotate tab has the tools reviewers use most, each with a keyboard shortcut:

Select an annotation to move it, resize it with its handles, or change its colour and opacity. Snapping guides appear while you drag; hold Alt to turn snapping off.

Mark up a page with shapes, arrows and comments. Every annotation appears in the Comments panel.

Keep track of comments

The Comments panel lists every comment in the document — yours and those already in the file — with its author and date. Filter by type, status or author, reply to a comment, and mark it resolved. Set the name written into your comments in Preferences → Editing.

Works with other PDF readers

Annotations are saved as standard PDF annotations with their own appearance, so other PDF readers show them. Replies and resolved status are saved as PDF reply annotations. You can also delete comments that came with the file, or flatten annotations into the page when you export.

Importing and exporting comments as XFDF files is not available.

More features

  • Edit PDF text

Fix a typo, update a date or rewrite a paragraph in an existing PDF. Pagewright changes the words in the file itself and keeps the original layout wherever it can.

  • Organize pages

Put pages in the right order, combine files into one, split a long document apart, and number every page — without uploading anything.

  • Forms and signatures

Fill in forms, sign them with your own handwriting or typed signature, and check the digital signatures on documents you receive.

  • OCR and conversion

Turn scans into searchable documents, convert between images, text and PDF, and make files smaller — all on your own computer.

  • Batch processing

Do the same job to a whole folder of PDFs in one go, with a report of what happened — and your original files left untouched.
